Introduction

Ruen Ventures LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates SmartStack, a financial budgeting SaaS web application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use SmartStack (smartstackbudget.com and smartstackmoney.com).

We are NOT a financial advisor, bank, or investment service. Budgets, forecasts, and insights are estimates only. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email, and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we do not store plain-text passwords).
Financial data: bank and brokerage transaction data, balances, and account information read-only via Plaid (we never receive your bank login credentials and cannot move funds).
User content: budgets, goals, categories, notes, and exported reports you create.
Usage and technical data: device info, IP address, browser data, cookies, and privacy-respecting analytics (see “Product analytics” below).
Payment information: processed securely by Stripe (we do not store full card details).

2. How We Use Your Information

Provide and improve SmartStack.
Process subscriptions and payments.
Send transactional emails and (if you opt in) marketing communications from [email protected].
Detect fraud and ensure security.
Comply with legal obligations.
Understand aggregate product usage via privacy-respecting analytics (see below).

2A. Product analytics (Plausible)

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics service, on public marketing pages (for example the homepage and support pages).

Plausible typically processes aggregate signals such as page URL, referrer, browser/device type, and country-level location derived from IP (without building advertising profiles). It does not use cookies for tracking and does not collect financial transaction amounts, payee names, bank credentials, or account balances.

We may also record a small set of product events on the marketing site (for example: clicking “Join the waitlist,” successful waitlist signup, and opening an FAQ item). These events do not include your email address or other account identifiers.

You can learn more about Plausible’s practices on their website. If we change analytics vendors or enable a self-hosted instance, we will update this section.

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with:

Plaid — bank and brokerage read-only access when you connect accounts.
Stripe — payment processing.
Supabase, Vercel, and Cloudflare — hosting and infrastructure.
Legal authorities when required by law.

4. Your Rights (CCPA / General Privacy Rights)

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within required timeframes. You may also use in-app tools (where available) to update profile data or delete your account.

5. Children’s Privacy

SmartStack is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted transport and row-level security for your data in our database. No system is 100% secure.

7. International Transfers

Data is processed in the United States.

8. Changes to This Policy

We will post updates in the app (and on this policy) with a new effective date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
